Decrease self doubt, increase embodied wisdom. If right now, you are:
- feeling confused about your self doubt….why do I know what to say to some clients and not others?
- nearly (or actually!) falling asleep in sessions
- ending sessions, or the whole work day, with a headache or stomach ache
The truth is, your own body can be a vital tool in your clinical work. Rather than offering you more therapy interventions, this study series will invite you to enhance your self awareness and use your own body as a clinical instrument. You already have the tool, come recalibrate it into efficient balance.
RECALIBRATE: Developing the Somatic Self
an eight week study series for therapists
Recalibrate will meet weekly via Zoom for 90 minutes of small group learning.
Upcoming course dates: January 17, 2024- March 6, 2024
Wednesdays, 9:30am-11am Pacific Time
Module 1: Stress response, Nervous System, & Self Somatics
Explore how your body responds to challenge
Module 2: Client Activation & Somatic Countertransference
Learn how your client’s stress response impacts you
Module 3: Preparing the Therapist Body as Clinical Instrument
Practice ways of attuning to your own intuition and visceral data
Module 4: Reframing and Recalibrating Somatic Information
Synthesize learning into a deeper knowing about stress response in therapy
Module 5: Experiential group practice: Self Somatic Exploration
Utilize the group to practice attuning to self
Module 6: Case Conceptualization using a Somatic Lens (two part module over two weeks)
Apply new learning to your own client population
Module 7: Review of Somatic Interaction & Reflections
Bring awareness to your process, growing your clinical paradigm
Each week, instructions will be given for experiential learning in between group meetings.
For learners who love to read, resources and references will be provided weekly.
For learners who love to discuss, a private WhatsApp group will run throughout the duration of the course.
12 hours of live, small group learning: $995
12 NBCC CE hours available

This program is for clinicians who are trained in a modality they love….and yet feel something is missing.
This program is for clinicians who are willing to explore their own visceral experience.
It is for therapists who end their work day with physical pain: headaches, stomach aches, and/or tension held in their body.
This program is for therapists who are curious about relational neuroscience and want a small, focused group learning experience.
This program is not for someone desiring another therapy modality. It isn’t about learning one “right” way to do the work. This program is not for people who have a rigid way of working.

Recalibrate: Developing the Somatic Self is an online, small-group study series. The group will meet in real time once per week for 90 minutes for a total of eight sessions. Experiential learning will be the main teaching modality with didactic components interwoven. The content is directly aimed at teaching clinicians to utilize their own bodies as clinical instruments. Therefore, the course content will build over the eight sessions to explore human stress response, somatic countertransference, co-regulation of the nervous system, and application to therapeutic intervention and case conceptualization.
Upon completion of the course,
Upon completion of the course,
- Participants will identify their own patterns of nervous system activation in response to stressors.
- Participants will practice regulation skills to address their own activation.
- Participants will be able to define somatic countertransference in their own words.
- Participants will discuss varying case conceptualizations as they apply somatic awareness to understanding their clients.
- Participants will practice dual awareness, noting somatic activation in self and other simultaneously, in order to build capacity for their clinical work.
- Participants will prepare and practice therapeutic interventions using their own somatic countertransference in order to deepen clinical work.
- Participants will be invited to use experiential learning in a group format in order to practice noticing nervous system activation and applying it in the moment with other people.
- Participants will apply this framework of somatic awareness to specific clients while considering new interventions and conceptualizations.
- Participants will formulate their own lens of somatic application, based upon the processes of Interpersonal Neurobiology.

Who is running this show?
Hi! My name is Katherine. I hold a Master's degree in Forensic Psychology, am licensed as a Professional Counselor, registered as a Play Therapist-Supervisor, and certified as a Synergetic Play Therapist-Supervisor.
For decades of my life, I walked through the world in a zombie-like state. I over-performed in achievement, but internally was quite shut down and cut off from myself. In this state, I worked in adult residential settings, adolescent wilderness therapy, and child outpatient counseling. My life-changing transformation began when I started to study and apply relational neuroscience. I understood my intense clinical experiences in a new way. After applying nervous system regulation to my work, my physical health shifted, my confidence grew, and I have fallen in love again with being a therapist!
As you think about your clinical work, are you checking the boxes? I believe you can honor yourself and find greater satisfaction in your therapeutic skills.
