- I hear you have a wait list, how can I get my child on it?
- I keep a wait list as a courtesy to clients. Predicting the wait is difficult as counseling duration varies for each family. I also work to limit my wait list at times so that families are not waiting an undue length of time. To check on whether I am taking names for the wait list or not, give me a call at: 541-203-0275.
- Can I come into the room when you are doing play therapy with my child?
- Parents are asked to wait in the waiting room while their child does her play therapy session. A few exceptions to this practice exist. If you have specific concerns, please speak to me directly.
- How does play therapy work?
- Play therapy offers the child a chance to express emotion through her innate form of communication: play. In the playroom, the child creates play scenarios in which her experience of the world are re-created for the therapist to witness and support. The child works through stages of play in order to find, practice, and master new ways to respond to tough situations. The child uses the toys to fully express her world view as well as practice new ways of being in that world. The play therapist supports the child in fully exploring all the emotions she has in response to her environment. Furthermore, the therapist is present to support the child in identifying new ways to respond to stress and to practice these new skills. Synergetic Play Therapy focuses specifically on the lowest regions of the brain, allowing children to re-pattern their stress response.
- What insurance do you accept?
- I am an in-network provider with: Samaritan, Moda, Pacific Source, and InterCommunity Health Network (IHN). I can bill Providence and United Health Care as an out of network provider. If you do not see your insurance listed and have questions, please contact me.
- How does billing work?
- After a family completes an intake appointment, I can bill the family's insurance for counseling services. Families can pay their co-pay at each session or pay after receiving a monthly billing statement. The cost for families usually includes any sessions that are not paid by insurance due to deductible, and then either a co-pay or co-insurance for each session thereafter. Your insurance provider can give you detailed information regarding what percentages of services they cover and what your cost will be.
- Do you accept credit cards?
- Yes, payment is accepted via cash, check, and credit card/HSA card. Cards are preferred and kept on file for ease of payment.
